    Thierry Berger received his Master of Science and Technology in Industrial Information Technology (1987), his post-graduate diploma in Industrial and Human Automatics (1988) and his Ph.D. in Human-Machine Systems & Automatics (1992) from the University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis (France).
    He is currently an assistant professor at the University of Valenciennes. He teaches in the fields of Automation and Industrial Information Technology at the ENSIAME Engineering School at this university. He is also member of the TEMPO Laboratory, team PSI (Production, Information, Services), at the University of Valenciennes.

  •  He is a member of the French CNRS research group, MACS (Modélisation, Analyse et Conduite des Systèmes dynamiques/Modeling, Analysis and Control of Dynamic Systems), and in particular of the IMS2 group (Intelligent Manufacturing & Services Systems).
    He participates and has participated in several projects using bio-inspired methods, holonic and agent approaches to control PRT (Personal Rapid Transit), FMS (Flexible Manufacturing Systems) and railways systems (such as SURFER “active monitoring and diagnosis of train”, PPF-Coeur de ville “dynamic routing of a fleet of PRT”).
    He has been, and is reviewer for several International/European Journals and events (JIM: Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, JESA: Journal Européen des Systèmes Automatisés/European Journal of Automated System, IESM : international conference on « Industrial Engineering and Systems Management ») and national events or French (LT: Logistique et Transport/Logistics and Transport, MOSIM: MOdélisation et SIMulation/ Modeling and Simulation).
    He served as co-chair of French or international conferences, namely LT’09, IESM’11 and HoloMAS’11 (international conference on industrial applications of “Holonic and Multi-Agent Systems”).
    He is author or co-author of 65 papers and research contracts in the domains of manufacturing and transport.
