 Bio: Michael Defoort is a Full Professor at UPHF. He works with LAMIH (UMR CNRS 8201), Valenciennes, France. He received the PhD Degree in Automatic Control for the Ecole Centrale de Lille in 2007 and the HDR in 2015. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Keio University Japan in 2008. He is currently a Subject Editor for Journal of the Franklin Institute, a Topical Associate Editor for Nonlinear Dynamics a Associate Editor for International Journal of Systems Science, IEEE/ASME TRANSACTIONS ON MECHATRONICS (TMECH) and IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CYBERNETICS.

 Research field: Control and observation of nonlinear systems, Hybrid dynamical systems (HDS), Fault detection and isolation, Finite-time stability and stabilization, Time scale theory, Multi-agent systems.
