I am associate Professor in Mechanics of the DF2T research Team since 2002, in charge of the TEMPO wind tunnel and recently accredited to supervise research (Nov. 2010, "HDR diploma").

RESEARCH

Research areas of interest include Wall-bounded turbulence, Fluid Mechanics Metrology and Flow Control.

Wall-Bounded Turbulence

Turbulent boundary layers, pipe and channel flows are studied. Among the particular issues investigated are the scaling law, the wall shear stress statistics, the physics of coherent events and the separation.

Fluid Mechanics Metrology

In wall-bounded turbulent flows, the instantaneous wall-shear stress is an important quantity, the measurement of which is notoriously difficult to make particularly at high Reynolds numbers. In my research, mass transfer probes for measuring the wall-shear stress in a wall-bounded turbulent flows is developed. The frequency response of the probes is also investigated.

Flow Control

Viscous or skin-friction drag accounts for about half of the total drag on modern aircraft at subsonic cruise conditions. The flow around bluff bodies can be controlled for example by applying synthetic jets using piezoelectric devices suitably placed on the surface of the body. Here we consider the possibility of separation control for two- and three-dimensional bluff bodies.
