Special Jury Mention Queer film
Big Boys Don't Cry is a sunny work that blends ambiguous feelings and indefinable relationships, between friendship and love. The film tells the story of Hicham (Wyssem Romdhane), a soldier who returns to his childhood village for his brother's wedding. The reunion with his childhood group and Lucas (Rod Paradot), his best friend, will be punctuated by scooter rides, soccer matches and family dinners.
Arnaud Delmarle (bachelor, class of 2018) presented his latest short film (world premiere) in national competition at the 47th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2025, which ran from January 31 to February 8, 2025. The cast thus includes Wyssem Romdhane and Rod Paradot (César for best male hope for Emmanuel Bercot's La tête haute), as well as Mathis Sonzogni, Emmanuel Rol and Kamel Mahjoubi. The film's team also includes Cyprien Jeancolas (master Productions, 2020) in charge of the film's color grading.
Pitch : It's summer for Lucas and his band of buddies in their village near Marseille. Hicham returns after three years of absence and military training. Getting together to organize a friend's bachelor party, they enjoy one evening after another by the sea. But Hicham's return rekindles raw emotions in these men whom the summer had parched.
The film won the Mention spéciale du Jury Queer métrage at the Partner Awards ceremony on February 5.
Congratulations to him and his team!
