Sport and science - Yes, sport and science are two fields that are rarely combined....and yet there's a lot to talk about ❗
The European College of Sport Sciences (ECSS Paris 2023), the largest international sports science congress, with over 2300 scientific presentations and more than 100 invited speakers, was held, at the Palais des Congrès in PARIS from July 4 to 7, 2023.

The LAMIH was represented by Antony MARCHIS and Jérémy GONTHIER.
Antony MARCHIS, PhD student, in collaboration with DECATHLON, presenting his research work on "the impact of reducing shoe drop in children during walking and sprinting" in the Biomechanics & Sports Medicine category. Her work aims to better understand the impact of reduced shoe drop on children's locomotion. Among the factors predisposing to the risk of lower-limb injury, one of the most important is the use of unsuitable footwear. For this reason, it is essential to develop our knowledge of children's footwear, with the ultimate aim of developing footwear specifically adapted to children's locomotion.
.Jérémy GONTHIER, PhD student and podiatrist, presenting his work on "Does limitation of the first metatarsophalangeal joint have an impact on performance during vertical jumping?" in the category: biomechanics/sports medicine.
This work explores the effect of insole stiffness on the motor skills of the sporting gesture. A strong link between the laboratory and the clinic that will enable us to better understand the impact of podiatric management
Fête de la Science (FDS 2023)
Science and sport is, moreover, the theme chosen for the 32nd Fête de la science, which will take place from October 6 to 16, 2023 and for which LAMIH will be particularly involved with Laura Wallard, as ambassador for the Hauts-de-France region, as well as the team from the Human and Life Sciences department, who will be presenting their activities in an educational and entertaining way to the general public.
