LAMIH mission to Montreal: a stronger international dynamic
The LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 went to Montreal with a delegation of its members as part of a mission dedicated to developing international collaborations. For several days, scientific meetings, institutional exchanges and laboratory visits punctuated this trip rich in prospects.
A first day of project structuring and strategic meetings
From day one, the LAMIH teams have been working hard to set up a European research project dedicated to rehabilitation. Conducted in collaboration with a number of international academic partners, this session laid the foundations for a structuring project and deepened its scientific contours.
In parallel, an institutional meeting at the French Consulate General in Quebec City provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges of Franco-Quebec cooperation, funding arrangements and opportunities for collaboration. The day continued with academic exchanges aimed at identifying new scientific synergies, before concluding with a discussion around prospects for collaboration with the IRL ILLS.
This first day fully illustrates LAMIH's commitment to developing ambitious international projects.
Artificial intelligence in the service of healthcare
The second day was devoted to the Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare Applications workshop around the challenges of artificial intelligence applied to healthcare.
Focusing on AI & Rehabilitation, this day highlighted the potential of AI to improve the detection of locomotor disorders, notably through ecological assessment of fall risk and movement analysis, personalize care pathways thanks to the exploitation of heterogeneous data, and develop innovative mobility assistance solutions by combining neuromusculoskeletal modeling, deep learning and user-centered design.
The exchanges highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches, at the crossroads of technological performance, clinical relevance and usage.
With 50 face-to-face and 30 online participants, this first edition was a real success and confirms the international momentum around these themes.
Ten years of collaboration celebrated and extended
The third day marked a highlight with the closing workshop of the IRP CNRS ROI-TML, marking nearly ten years of scientific collaboration between the CNRS, the LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 and the CIRRELT.
Initiated as an International Associated Laboratory and then consolidated as an International Research Project, this cooperation has enabled the development of high-level joint work in optimization, transportation and decision-making systems, as well as the training and mobility of numerous PhD students and young researchers.
This day was also an opportunity to announce the forthcoming launch of the AVRIA Alliance, conceived as a new stage in the continuity of this collaboration. Its aim is to strengthen and perpetuate the scientific synergies, joint projects and doctoral co-supervision undertaken over the last ten years.
The Alliance AVRIA is a new step in the continuity of this collaboration.
Beyond the formal closing of the IRP, it is therefore the continuation and deepening of a solid academic partnership that opens.
A final day focused on innovation and synergies
The final day, organized with the École de technologie supérieure, explored several common themes illustrating the complementarity of expertise and the potential for future collaborations.
In particular, the delegation was able to discover facilities linked to quantum computing and discuss its applications and prospects. Presentations were also given on healthcare technologies.
The delegation also had the opportunity to take part in a series of discussions on the future of quantum computing.
Finally, a visit to a hospital innovation laboratory provided an opportunity to discuss advanced work in motion analysis, artificial intelligence and medical devices in the service of rehabilitation and personalized medicine.
A mission rich in prospects
This mission to Montreal will have been particularly rich in meetings, in-depth scientific discussions and the building of new ties.
It confirms the dynamic begun between the partner institutions and contributes to strengthening Franco-Quebec relations in terms of research, innovation and training. It is fully in line with LAMIH's internationalization strategy, with the ambition of developing joint projects, consolidating lasting cooperative ventures and boosting its scientific visibility internationally.
This new partnership will enable LAMIH to further strengthen its position in the international arena.
A big thank you to all the partners for their welcome and the quality of the exchanges.
