Professor Das is Full Professor of Applied Mechanics and heads the "Simulation of Advanced Materials and Structures (SAMS)" research group within the "Sir Lawrence Wackett Defence and Aerospace Centre" at RMIT University (Australia).
He was Director of Programs in the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering at the School of Engineering. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and at the Université du Québec, Canada.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Auckland.
Professor Das has nearly 20 years' experience in the design, analysis and optimization of engineering materials and structures, with a particular focus on numerical twinning, structural optimization, composite structures, additive manufacturing, meta-materials, fracture analysis and damage mechanics.
He has published over 350 papers in international journals and conferences in collaboration with several universities, institutes and industries.
Professor Das holds a PhD in applied mechanics from Monash University, Australia, and previously worked at the University of Auckland (New Zealand), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australia) and the University of Manchester (UK).
Professor Das has received several national and international awards and grants.
