Summary
The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) has spawned tightly interconnected technology ecosystems, integrating heterogeneous end devices with cloud, fog and edge computing infrastructures.
This interconnection is driven by the need to efficiently process the massive volumes of data generated by the IoT, while respecting latency, bandwidth constraints. As a result, modern systems rely on the interaction of multiple service providers using multiple network technologies that are often heterogeneous, if not incompatible.
This multi-layer, multi-provider interconnection considerably increases system complexity and raises several security and trust challenges, with objectives varying according to the layers and players within the ecosystem.
This HDR presents a selection of my research contributions addressing the security of emerging technology ecosystems at three main levels: network, data and services.
The first part is devoted to the design and deployment of security mechanisms adapted to network-layer protocols, with the aim of establishing trust relationships between network participants and guaranteeing the reliability of exchanged flows.
The second part looks at securing data in outsourcing environments, with the aim of providing data owners and consumers with security mechanisms enabling them to retain partial control over data confidentiality, integrity and reliability.
The third part addresses service-level reliability in outsourcing environments, taking into account scenarios where service providers operate in federated contexts. The aim is to equip users with security mechanisms that enable them to safely assess service quality and provider reliability.
The third part looks at service-level reliability in outsourcing environments, taking into account scenarios where service providers operate in federated contexts.
