General presentation

Hot-air engines such as Stirling or Ericsson are coupled to thermal machines such as an internal combustion engine (ICE) or a biomass boiler, for cogeneration and valorization of waste heat from flue gases. For both types of machine, gaseous and particulate pollutant emissions are characterized at the exhaust end, using analyzers and laser optical diagnostics in the boiler combustion chamber and chimney, for example.

The aim is to improve the plant's energy efficiency, reduce pollutant emissions depending on the nature of the fuel (hydrogen, alternative fuels for the MCI, natural and torrefied wood pellets for the biomass boiler) and operating conditions (combustion control depending on fuel and air injection).
