This competition brings together BUT Industrial Engineering and Maintenance (GIM)
students every year.
This year, they came from Valenciennes, Saint-Omer, Reims, Châlons, Vesoul, Saint-Denis, Lyon, Roanne and Toulon to take up the 2025 challenge over 2 days from June 11 to 13.
A sporting, scientific and collaborative challenge, GIMEOLEX is organized starting this year by the GIM departments of the Valenciennes and Littoral Côte d'Opale IUTs.
A multi-stage challenge
- Starting in Hardelot, a 25km orienteering race led the students, laden with their equipment, over the cliffs of the Côte d'Opale, through forests and dunes.
- Arrived in Le Portel, the participants set up camp and the means of energy production.
Over 2 intense days, energy production challenges followed one another, the performance of the installations was measured and the students demonstrated their ingenuity and collaboration to optimize energy production using different means (wind turbines, solar panels, ...). On the final day, an assessment of each team's energy production enabled the various competitors to be ranked.
Alongside the technical events, the students took part in outdoor activities thanks to the Portel town hall, which made its infrastructure and animation teams available. A big thank you to the mairie du Portel for hosting the teams and offering the water activities, sand yachting and stand up paddle!
After more than 24h of energy production, the Roanne lUT team won the 2025 edition of the Gimeolex.
Congratulations to this team who gave their all and didn't neglect the physical effort! It was thanks in particular to the energy produced by their generator bike, transported across dunes and cliffs, that they achieved victory.
Congratulations to the organizers! Congratulations to the IUT students and teachers involved in this competition! Thank you to the two communes that accompanied the events!
