At the IUT, work-study programs go international

BUT GMP apprentices benefit from mobility in Portugal

Sixteen apprentices from BUT Mechanical and Production Engineering had the opportunity to work with one of our partners in Portugal

.

With the aim of maintaining established relationships and developing new opportunities for educational exchanges, a week-long stay, organized by the IUT's Alternance department, took place at the Instituto Politécnico de Viseu (IPV), a partner establishment in the EUNICE alliance. Supervised by Sébastien Coupeaux, a teacher in the GMP department, the French apprentices were welcomed by Carlos Pereira, a teacher at IPV.

The week's program:

Structural dimensioning course with Axisystem software, by LPI teacher Angéla Neves,
tour of the workshop equipped with conventional and CNC turning and milling machines, bending machine, welding station,
visit a virtual reality room,
robotics course, demonstration of moving a part by an ABB robot,
programming course, use of simulation software.

The students willingly got involved and communicated in English with their Portuguese counterparts, enriching their academic and cultural experience. The week ended with a convivial moment in a mountain restaurant followed by a visit to an automobile museum.😊
