Spelling test for 350 IUT students
A dictation to improve students' written expression
Installed under exam conditions, students concentrated for an hour on a short text evoking Marie Curie.
En BUT GEII, GIM, GMP, MP, TC, they worked simultaneously on the Valenciennes and Maubeuge campuses on a dictation eextract from the speech by Mr. François Mitterrand, President of the Republic, at the time of Marie Curie's entry into the Pantheon. The text deals with the invention of radioactivity and the applications of their discovery in nuclear physics, chemistry, biology and medical exploration, and includes terms such as radium, Panthéon, docteur es-sciences, ... Enough to get you thinking about grammar and spelling rules!
This test is organized as part of the expression and communication courses taught in BUT.
Students prepared themselves through various exercises offered in class, preparations and refresher courses in the form of gap-fill texts, prepared or unprepared dictations and through the Voltaire Project.
