This issue is dedicated to innovative planning and control methodologies that integrate human-centered perspectives to improve safety, comfort and trust in intelligent vehicles.

• Real-time decision making for shared driving between humans and automation in complex traffic scenarios
• Learning-based obstacle detection and avoidance taking into account human safety
• Coordinated planning and control for adaptive vehicle dynamics in uncertain environments with human passengers
• Advanced techniques for estimating vehicle and human driver states in VGI
• Integrated planning and control for VGI, with emphasis on human-centered safety and comfort
• Fault-tolerant, fail-safe navigation systems for intelligent vehicles, taking human factors into account
• Intelligent fault detection and fault-tolerant control for IGVs in human-centered contexts
• Shared human-machine planning and control for IGVs in mixed traffic scenarios
• Interfaces for seamless, intuitive interaction between man and IGV
• Trust and acceptance of autonomous systems from the human perspective
