Closing Ceremony for the TEC-LOGd Chair of Excellence

June 5, 2026 was dedicated to presenting the results of the TEC-LOGd Chair of Excellence, sharing scientific and educational findings, and discussing future development prospects with academic, industrial, and institutional partners.

Under the scientific direction of Professor Joseph Sarkis, an international authority in the field of sustainable supply chains and the circular economy, the TEC-LOGd Chair has brought together researchers and doctoral students—particularly from LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201—as well as students, industrial partners, and institutional stakeholders around a shared goal: to accelerate the sustainable transformation of logistics and industrial systems.

As part of the Rev3 —the Third Industrial Revolution in Hauts-de-France—the Chair has set itself the mission of helping to build the logistics of the “world to come”: green, resilient, connected, and zero-waste logistics capable of addressing contemporary environmental, industrial, and societal challenges. 

Faced with the limitations of the linear economic model, the supply chain tensions revealed by the health crisis, and the massive emergence of digital technologies, the Chair has developed an approach that combines the circular economy, short supply chains, sustainable logistics, and smart multimodal transportation.

By incorporating topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital twins, connected systems, flow optimization, simulation, and supply chain resilience, the Chair has helped foster innovative solutions that benefit regions, businesses, and new forms of logistics mobility
Significant scientific output and academic influence

In just a few years, the TEC-LOGd Chair has established itself as a recognized leader in the field of sustainable logistics and the circular economy, through substantial scientific output, international collaborations, and foundational academic and industrial partnerships.

The TEC-LOGd Chair is notably known for:

  • More than 30 published scientific articles;
  • 20 scientific presentations;
  • 10 book chapters;
  • 3 edited volumes;
  • Support for doctoral theses and projects, international collaborations, seminars and conferences, as well as training and professional development initiatives through the Master’s in e-Logistics offered by INSA Hauts-de-France, work-study programs, internships, and apprenticeships.

Beyond academic achievements, the Chair has helped strengthen the links between research, education, and the socio-economic sector by fostering the development of new skills and concrete solutions for more sustainable and resilient logistics.

A Scientific and International Momentum That Continues

Even after the official conclusion of the Chair, the scientific momentum initiated by TEC-LOGd continues through several key projects and international collaborations.

Building on the Chair’s work, the cross-border Interreg project EcoLogiX, launched in March 2026, aims to develop innovative solutions for sustainable and smart multimodal logistics between the Hauts-de-France region and Wallonia.

The Chair is also participating in several national and international strategic initiatives focused on logistics transition, the circular economy, and the energy transition, notably through ANR and FTJ projects related to industrial challenges and the batteries of the future.

Active scientific collaborations have been established with several academic and institutional partners in Morocco, Canada, and Vietnam, contributing to the Chair’s international reputation and the development of joint research and training projects.

The TEC-LOGd Chair also contributed to the creation of the international conference SMILE—Smart Management in Industrial and Logistics Engineering—whose first edition was held in 2025 in Casablanca with several international academic partners. A second edition is already in the works for 2027 to continue this momentum of international scientific exchange focused on sustainable logistics and smart industrial systems.

In addition, several large-scale scientific initiatives are currently in the works, notably a future ERC Synergy Grant application bringing together leading international experts in the fields of sustainable logistics, the circular economy, and industrial systems of the future.

These new developments reflect a commitment to building on the scientific and operational legacy of TEC-LOGd, in support of more sustainable, resilient, and smart logistics.
