Title
Convex control for a class of systems modeled by differential algebraic equations.
Summary
A variety of closely related concepts, such as differential algebraic equations (DAEs), descriptors and singular systems, have emerged for decades as a generalization of systems modeled by ordinary differential equations (ODEs).
Focusing on a class of physically sensitive systems, we explore how convex control methodologies, based on Lyapunov's direct method, convex modeling of nonlinearities and design conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI), can address classical problems of analysis, controller synthesis and observer design, in comparison with previous approaches.
Short bio
Miguel Bernal obtained his doctorate from the Czech Technical University in Prague (2005), worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Université de Valenciennes et du Hainaut-Cambrésis (2006-2009) and was appointed full professor at the Sonora Institute of Technology in 2011.
He has supervised various projects, research teams and doctoral theses in Mexico, France and Spain.
His research focuses mainly on the development of LMI-based design methodologies for nonlinear control systems.
