Summary

About a decade ago, it was revealed that the wake of simplified car models was subject to a generic 3D regular instability responsible for its permanent asymmetry. The talk will present recent experimental research on how this instability affects the aerodynamics of an academic geometry (drag, lift and side force components) for different pitch, yaw and ground clearance. A study of pseudo-adaptive wake control under varying attitudes (crosswind and pitch) will also be presented.
