Small-scale unconventional air vehicles: opportunities and challenges" seminar
As part of the scientific leadership of the mechanics department of LAMIH, a seminar will be held by Sophie Armanini, Assistant Professor at the Technical University of Munich, responsible for the eAviation Lab.
group. This seminar will be held on Thursday June 29 at 2pm in the amphi of CISIT.
Summary:
Thanks to their small size, low cost and relatively simple and fast manufacturing, small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) facilitate the exploration of new and unconventional designs, which can enable difficult tasks to be performed more efficiently or new applications to be created. This talk will present an overview of recent research into the design, modeling and control of two different classes of highly unconventional bioinspired UAVs: flapping-wing robots and aerial-aquatic robots. While discussing the opportunities and challenges presented by each, the talk will show how a bioinspired approach can provide new solutions to complex problems.
