A look back at GMP's international apprentice week
The apprentices in B.U.T. Mechanical and Production Engineering traveled to Spain and Portugal
Two groups of GMP apprentices, as part of International Week, were able to develop their engineering and language skills thanks to two projects carried out in two European countries: Portugal and Spain.
- Université Polytechnique de Leira (Portugal): the first group was hosted from April 22 to 26. The project focused on automotive gearboxes. Working together on specific teaching and practical application on industrial software, the apprentices were able to work on various elements: feasibility study, dimensioning.
- Valencia Polytechnic University (Spain): the second group was hosted from May 06 to 09. The project focused on Formula Student, an international student competition organized by the Society of Automobile Engineers. The aim of the project was to design and build a single-seater racing car, and the apprentices worked on very specific aspects, such as helmet design and parts optimization. They were also given the opportunity to present the issues and their project.
All exchanges took place in English, which enabled the GMP apprentices to improve their use of this internationally spoken language.
Funding for the apprentices' week-long stays is provided by the IUT and Formasup Hauts-de-France, the organization that manages apprenticeships in higher education.
