Visit to Framatome's Maubeuge hydraulic test center
A week after the French President's visit, Framatome welcomed our students from BUT Mesures physiques
As part of Nuclear Week, 1st and 2nd year students from BUT Mesures Physiques were invited to visit Framatome's Centre d'Essais Hydrauliques in Maubeuge, the same center Emmanuel Macron visited the previous week.
This is a center dedicated to hydraulic testing and the study of nucleate boiling and critical flow performance. The students were able to see that all the skills acquired at the IUT are put into practice at Framatome: electricity, fluid mechanics, thermics, materials, instrumentation, piloting, chemistry, dimensional control, ...
The comprehensive tour included:
- a presentation of Framatome's activities and internal career development policy by Laurie Caudron, HR Manager at Framatome,
- testimonials from former students of the IUT (Mesures Physiques), currently employed at Framatome: Fabian Zaleski, Franck Lepers and Grégory Vanderborght, on the careers available to graduates, .
- a presentation of the activities of the Jeumont materials analysis laboratory by Véronique Da Ros, laboratory manager,
- a tour of the workshop and test loop, through to the cockpit and control room.
During the discussions, several topics were addressed, including encouraging work-study schemes and raising awareness among women to encourage them to work in the industry.
