How to "gamify" the activities of senior citizens in the Bassin Minier region

A team of teacher-researchers from IT2S obtains funding for this project.

Getting old well concerns and will concern each and every one of us. Growing old is not just a question of time passing; it's also an opportunity to continue living life to the full, with activities and habits that help us get through the years better.

A team of teacher-researchers from IT2S, made up of members of LAMIH (Eugénie Avril, Mathias Blandeau, Laura Wallard) and LARSH (Thierry Arnal, Hervé Champin), has just been awarded funding for a research project responding to a call for tenders from the Institut Fédératif de Recherche sur le Renouveau des Territoires (IF2RT).

The project involves "gamifying" the physical activity of senior citizens in the Bassin Minier region, based on an application providing access to games and anecdotes specific to the territory. The hypothesis posed here suggests the existence of a link between the desire to get to know one's territory better and physical engagement.

At the end of the day, the aim is to assess the impact of this "gamification" on the frequency and intensity of activity among the elderly, which we know is an essential factor in maintaining their ability to remain independent and age well.
