A GEii project on the big screen

This Friday, October 24, the work of the GEII department at Valenciennes IUT is being honored at the Wallers-Arenberg mining site, with a screening of the documentary Quarouble 1954.

This film tells the fascinating story of Marius Dewilde, a resident of Quarouble who is said to have witnessed a mysterious encounter with extraterrestrials.
An immersive journey produced by 24images and Tchack, in co-production with France Télévisions, to which the GEII department contributed with the creation of a 3D model that can be seen in the documentary.
The model, designed by Marc Rosemont, is the result of a partnership between the GEII department and France Télévisions. This model, designed by Marc Rosique, a technician in the department, faithfully recreates the scene described by Marius at the time of the events.

This past March, the production team of Jordan Anatole, Sam Nolin and Rémi Waquet had visited the IUT premises to shoot the shots required for the sequence.

The theme also inspired 3rd-year BUT GEII students, who took part in a project involving the mobility of a two-meter-diameter flying saucer, used this summer by the troupe Les Bras Cassés during their show retracing the history of the town of Quarouble. The flying saucer was created by Marc Rosique, Nicolas Lardenois from the GEii department and Jacques Delongeville from the GMP department.
