Projet STRMG

STRMTG

Study on point emergence alignments that can form a dynamic visibility mask for tramway systems.

As tramways are operated on a visual basis, visibility all along the line, and particularly upstream of platform crossings, is a guarantee of safety: good visibility enables tramway drivers to anticipate and adapt their driving (and possibly initiate braking) in the event of a risk of collision with a third party.

.

The aim of the project is to study the impact on driving and safety of the presence of point emergences (trees, barriers, poles...) which, statically, do not appear to pose a problem for visibility, but which, depending on the speed and angle of approach of the tramway, can form a "wall", thus creating a significant obstruction to visibility.

The project is funded by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and managed by the Service Technique des Remontées Mécaniques et des Transports Guidés (STRMTG)
