Heat and mass transfer by multi-jets impacting curved surfaces: Application to the cooling of electrical systems

The ESSENCYELE project focuses on the design of an affordable gasoline/electric hybrid vehicle. The main objective of this project is to reduce CO2 emissions to below 95 g/km, for a Mild-Hybrid architecture on a gasoline vehicle such as a Peugeot 308 or Citroën C4.

.

The cooling of the electric machine present in the ESSENCYELE vehicle is one of the vectors for reducing its emissions. This project focuses on the design of efficient stator winding cooling using a heat transfer fluid, air or lubricating oil. We are then interested in the thermal and dynamic study of the impact of jets on a convex surface. This study is divided into two sub-studies, an experimental study and a numerical study. The experimental study is designed to determine local heat transfer during jet impact. The numerical approach, on the other hand, is designed to study and understand the flow dynamics. Ultimately, these approaches should make it possible to design an efficient multi-jet system for cooling the stators of Valéo machines.
