EUNICE - Launch of an innovative MOOC

Seven European universities launch an innovative MOOC on global studies as part of the EUNICE alliance

This open, transnational online course in global studies aims to increase students' knowledge of global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective.

A year and a half after the EUNICE project was launched in the fog of the pandemic, several academics and officers were able to work face-to-face for the first time at a workshop hosted by the University of Cantabria, Spain.

An international workshop

More than twenty members of the allied partner universities in the EUNICE European project gathered yesterday in Santander (Spain) to participate in the international workshop "MOOC on Global Studies". Hosted by the University of Cantabria, this is the first face-to-face academic event that brings together the seven institutions, allowing its participants to share their expertise and knowledge in order to design a massive open online course (MOOC) "Introduction to Global Studies".

This course, scheduled to launch in the 2022-23 academic year, aims to increase students' knowledge of global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, exploring globalization through the analysis of specific topics such as cultural diversity, migration or technology, among many others.

As part of EUNICE's multiculturalism and openness, this MOOC will be accessible to students from all over the world, regardless of their field of study, and will provide them with knowledge about cultural, economic, legal, environmental, political, social and technological phenomena in a global world and the main challenges facing global society today.

EUNICE, the European University for Tailored Education, is designed to address social and economic challenges, both globally and locally. The alliance is fueled by the intellectual and infrastructural contributions of seven universities - Poznan University of Technology (Poland), Brandenburg University of Technology (Germany), University of Cantabria (Spain), University of Mons (Belgium), University of Catania (Italy), Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (France), and the University of Vaasa (Finland) - resulting in a strong network of cross-interactions between educational institutions, industrial and business partners, as well as other social, cultural, artistic, and sporting actors.
