Colloquium "War and Peace. Diachrony around military logistics".
The UPHF is organizing the March 30-31 symposium "War and Peace. Diachrony around military logistics". Little highlighted, rarely studied, logistics is central in conflicts as shown by current events.
The diachronic approach chosen, from Rome to the present day, the variety of subjects treated - human as well as animal food, supply of weapons and ammunition, management of the wounded and prisoners, etc. - aim at two main objectives. On the one hand, to sketch out over the long term the permanence and evolution of supply. On the other, to present an overview of the multiplicity of particular cases and adaptations imposed by the physical, geopolitical or tactical environment.
The speakers will be practitioners of military logistics and historian-researchers from the University. The presence of four Hungarian researchers will accentuate the European dimension of this colloquium.
