The decree perpetuating the statutes of the Université Polytechnique Hauts de France has been published in the official journal of September 9, 2025. The experimental period that began on September 9, 2019, in application of the 2018 ordinance*, comes to a conclusive end for UPHF, now constituted as a grand établissement.

This exit from the experimental period is a major milestone for the public scientific, cultural and professional establishment (EPSCP) of Hainaut-Cambrésis and for the region as a whole, since UPHF is the first major establishment in the Hauts-de-France region.

* Ordonnance 2018-1131 relative à l'expérimentation de nouvelles formes de rapprochement, de regroupement ou de fusion des établissements d'enseignement supérieur et de recherche, notamment son article 20.

This decree marks the recognition of our polytechnic university model and reinforces our ambition to promote excellence throughout the region. Fostering the emergence of high value-added scientific and technical solutions, and promoting with conviction a humanistic model of education, based on the cross-fertilization of the sciences and the humanities, is a commitment we all share. The institutional maturity we are achieving today is an important milestone and a collective success.

A strategic vision

In 2016, Professor Abdelhakim Artiba, President of the University, federated the entire university community around a project that is unique in France, that of a Polytechnic University, drawing on the multidisciplinary nature of the establishment (excluding health).

A project that promotes cross-fertilization between science, technology and the humanities. The UPHF thus offers multidisciplinary curricula: polytechnic training, insertion of polytechnic modules into disciplinary curricula.

The UPHF's multi-disciplinary curriculum is based on a multi-disciplinary approach (excluding health).
