EUNICE: A UPHF delegation went to Vaasa (Finland) for the General Assembly

The University of Vaasa hosted delegations from EUNICE partner universities February 14-16 to plan next steps for the alliance.

The General Assembly and Transnational Meeting of the EUNICE European University Alliance took place at the University of Vaasa, Finland. After submitting thenew project proposal for the next five years in January, the rectors, presidents and other representatives of the partner universities had the opportunity to meet there.

"Addressing global challenges through interdisciplinary approaches"

The opening ceremony of the assembly allowed the different actors to sign the new EUNICE mission statement, which is to educate a new generation of Europeans, to address global challenges through interdisciplinary approaches, and to stimulate the potential of each region.

It is important that we lead the way for the future of higher education in Europe. We can only create solutions to global challenges through strong cooperation.

In their remarks, the rectors and presidents emphasized the opportunities and benefits of thecross-border cooperation forthe future of Europe, as well as that of the regions. In this regard, the alliance will continue to develop models of cooperation so that collaboration becomes an increasingly integral part of the activities of member universities.

Future EUNICE activities

During the meetings at the University of Vaasa, the strategic goals, common vision and joint research activities within the alliance were discussed. In addition, the delegations planned the future mobility and education activitiesand joint programs of excellence. They also had the opportunity to learn more about Open Badges, a digital recognition device that can attest to a skill, knowledge or commitment.

The European University for Customised Education (EUNICE) is nurtured by the intellectual and infrastructural contribution of the seven partner universities: the Poznań University of Technology (Poland), the Brandenburg University of Technology (Germany), the University of Cantabria (Spain), the University of Mons (Belgium), the University of Catania (Italy), the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (France), and the University of Vaasa (Finland). In 2023, the EUNICE alliance will be expanded with the official arrival of three new partners: the Viseu Polytechnic Institute (Portugal), the University of Peloponnese (Greece) and the Karlstad University (Sweden).


The Alliance, selected in the 2020 call of the Erasmus+ program for the specific action Initiative "European Universities", aims at a paradigm shift from traditional education to personalized, flexible, open, multicultural, multicentric, innovative and engaging education, able to meet the needs of each student, individual, and more globally of society.
