A look back at the closing of the "SAMDI" project

The LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201, pilot of the SAMDI project (Mobility assistance system for people with intellectual disabilities) received all the partners on February 16, 2024 in order to close the project during a restitution session of the results to the numerous participants.

Project objective: Create a tool to help people with intellectual disabilities get around.

Results: The project answered the following questions:
- What are the needs of people on the move?
- What medium should SAMDI be on?
- What should SAMDI contain (FALC, Photos, audio descriptions...)

To achieve this, researchers, future users and caregivers worked together in focus groups, co-design sessions and full-scale testing of proposed solutions.

The Director of Urban Labs Technologies demonstrated the Jerico application and how it can support people's pedestrian navigation.

This project involved, for over 3 years, the LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201, PSITEC of Lille University, the UNAPEI, the APEI of Valenciennois and Denain, the "Nous Aussi">association of self-representatives and Urban Labs Technologies.

"We're all proud of the work we've done, and are already looking ahead to future projects to make pedestrian and public transport navigation more accessible."

All the partners would like to thank the Région Hauts-de-France, funder of this project for its support.
