The association "Toits et Toiles" and the service culturel de l'Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France are pleased and proud to invite you to the exhibition De l'un à l'autre - L'art : une rencontre inclusive!
This exhibition is the fruit of a collaborative project initiated by the cultural service of the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France and coordinated by the association "Toits et Toiles" de Denain. As part of this project, three artists aware of the theme of disability and the difficulties faced by people with disabilities, went out to meet these invisibilized audiences.
The APEI du Valenciennois and the APEI les Papillons Blancs de Denain, the people accompanied, the accompanying and administrative staff welcomed the artists within their structures. Émilie Picavet(textile artist), Nathalie Bouillez (ceramic artist) and David Diruit (photographic artist) led artistic workshops with the people they support. Children and adults took full part in the various stages of creation led by the artists.
To take things a step further, two structures of the APEI du Valenciennois, disabled people and their carers, created works independently to offer an artistic interpretation of their daily lives, their difficulties, but above all their emotions and dreams.
This one-of-a-kind exhibition raises public awareness ofthe challenges of accessibility and inclusion by offering another way of looking at the world.
An unprecedented exhibition that allows visitors to take a step back, to see disability through the prism of art.
After an initial exhibition phase held at the Fabrique des arts in Denain, from March 1 to March 30, 2025 - a period punctuated by multiple visits, and a magnificent and moving highlight at the exhibition opening on Friday March 7, the project will now enter its second phase at the Centre d'Art de l'Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France.
On the occasion of the opening - as for the opening at the Fabrique des arts - François Lobry, tuba player and percussionist, will perform a musical performance on tuba and percussion. François Lobry has been a member of the Condé-sur-l'Escaut, Crespin, and Rombies-et-Marchipont harmonies for several years. He is accompanied by the Centre d'Habitat "Les Peupliers" of the APEI du Valenciennois.
