In Morocco, committed UPHF students discover other ways of doing university
From April 21 to 26, 2026, the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France co-organized a student exchange with the Université Ibnou Zohr (UIZ), which took 16 students to Morocco who were particularly involved in the life of our establishment.
These ambassadors, who come from a number of different departments (ISH, IT2S, IUT, INSA Hauts-de-France) and include student vice-presidents, elected representatives and association leaders, first discovered a partner university and another country. They also observed and questioned another model of commitment and student success.
Based on a series of meetings with Ibnou Zohr University's management teams and student club representatives, the program enabled the delegation to discover how a major North African university organizes its tutoring arrangements, innovation structures and student life on a multisite campus.
Among the highlights of the trip, the students unanimously praised the place occupied by Moroccan university clubs in the student life of their peers, as well as mentoring and mutual aid practices. These are very concrete topics that resonate with the reflections conducted at UPHF on the student experience and campus life.
For Hannah Wichowski, Student Vice-President and member of the delegation, the experience also strengthened the dialogue between students from different UPHF campuses.
Hannah Wichowski, Vice-Présidente étudiante membre de la délégationThe trip enabled us to get to know each other better as committed students, but also to take the time to reflect together on student life on our campuses. We don't always cross paths in our respective careers, and here we were able to share our experiences and ideas.
Antoine Hoarau, Student Vice-President of INSA Hauts-de-France, meanwhile, emphasizes the richness of intercultural discovery.
Antoine Hoarau, Vice-Président Étudiant de l’INSA Hauts-de-FranceWe discovered a different way of working at university, other forms of commitment and a new culture. Exchanges with Ibnou Zohr students were particularly enriching, both in human and academic terms.

Beyond the visits and institutional events, this mobility was also an opportunity to take a step back. Seeing differently to better imagine what can, tomorrow, enrich student life on all UPHF campuses. And for some, the opportunity for a first flight, a first trip abroad or a first step on another continent!
By encouraging these initiatives, the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France is giving concrete expression to its desire to make international openness a very concrete tool in the service of student success and the enrichment of the academic experiences of those who attend its campuses.
The dynamic will soon continue with the welcoming of students from the Université Ibnou Zohr to Hauts-de-France.
