The University shared its expertise at the Africa Cup of Nations* 2023
Far from stopping at the university gates, the dynamism and skills of the sports department are being exported internationally. As a result, its director Sébastien Malapel (opposite) was asked by Eric Chelle, coach of the Mali soccer team, to add to his staff for the recently concluded CAN (African Cup of Nations) 2023. For the director of the sports department, nothing less than a double hat of physical trainer and video analyst.
As well as giving him a front-row seat to African soccer, the experience will have enabled him to share his scientific and cultural knowledge of the discipline, particularly in the context of the technical and technical-tactical match analyses he had to carry out, as well as creating links with the Malian soccer federation, which was presented with the university's training courses, including the L3P SHN, Licence Pluridisciplinaire Projet Personnel dédiée aux Sportifs de Haut Niveau, which could be of interest to its players.
* 3rd biggest global soccer event after the World Cup and the Euro, the CAN is known for bringing together 1,500,000 spectators in the stadiums and 600 million viewers behind the small screen.
