François Catonné was born in Paris on September 3, 1944. He has spent most of his career as director of photography for feature films, documentaries and commercials. Assistant operator for nine years with such renowned directors as : Etienne Becker (seven films directed includingLe vieux fusil by Robert Enrico, Le jouet by Francis Veber, Police Python 357 by Alain Corneau), Sven Nykvist (Blackmoon by Louis Malle, Roman Polanski's Le Locataire), Tonino Delli Colli (Louis Malle's Lacombe Lucien), Pascalino De Santis (Robert Bresson's Lancelot du lac), etc.
We are thus very proud to welcome to the UPHF arts center the very first retrospective of this man of cinema's photographic work, tracing much of his career and his eye for cinematic images and shots.
