Through this exhibition, the University Art Center invites students, staff, and visitors to discover or rediscover the world of manga, which blends illustration, storytelling, and Japanese culture.
Having become a true cultural phenomenon in France, manga plays a significant role in the reading habits of younger generations. The exhibition thus aims to highlight the richness of this art of illustrated storytelling, whose conventions and worlds have long transcended Japan’s borders.
This exhibition is part of the UPHF’s “Year of Japan 2026” program, which celebrates the culture, exchanges, and ties between France and Japan throughout the year.

For more than 19 years, the Val en Bulles association has been promoting the 9th art in Valenciennes and the Valenciennes region. In particular, it organizes the Valenciennes International Comics Fair and helps introduce the public to the diversity of comics and their various worlds.
With this exhibition dedicated to manga, the association once again shares its passion for graphic art and storytelling through comics, offering the public a selection dedicated to this Japanese art form.
