Procedure

If you are a candidate for the césure, you must forward to the Doctoral School (ED) for instruction:

  • A reasoned request,
  • The letter of support from your thesis director,
  • The opinion of the director of his/her registration laboratories,
  • The contract of the host structure,
  • The completed form.

File to be sent to the following 2 addresses:

Calendar

  • Before June 15 for a request covering the 1st semester or the full academic year;
  • Before November 15 for a request covering the 2nd semester. Failure to comply with this timetable will result in automatic rejection of the gap-year request.

La période de césure, "period of personal or professional experience", is a scheme offered to students, the terms of which are set out in the referenced texts.

The definition of the Césure period is given in art. D. 611-13 of the French Education Code: "The period during which a student, enrolled in an initial course of higher education, temporarily suspends his or her studies with the aim of acquiring personal or professional experience, either on his or her own or supervised in a host organization in France or abroad, is referred to as a 'césure period'".
